I was thinking of the possibility of starting an on demand app for shopping. Yay or nay?
>mobile app (ios and android)
>allow people only in my town to order stuff
>quick "on-demand" delivery
What do you think, I mean, what could possibly work with this business model? Food maybe?

Yes food for sure, but since your target market is so limited (depending on how big your town is, of course, but still limited) I would provide as wide an array of services as you possibly can.
Something like a combination of Amazon + JustEat + eBay only for people living in your town.
That would give you at least the chance to monopolize online market in your area

That would be great in the short term, but what about if I want to scale in the future?
I think that if I stuck to one niche, say food for example, it would work better.
I've already got started on building the app btw.

Well if your plan is to stick to your town how can you scale? In my opinion only way your app can actually become big in the long term is precisely to cover how many areas as possible, and make it the go-to app for all kinds of online purchases. But perhaps there's another angle I'm not thinking about

That's cool you got any screens of the beta by any chance? Or is it in early development? (I know jackshit about programming)
Where do you live btw

>Yes food for sure
too late you can shop online for groceries and the big chains give you free or very low cost delivery. tesco auchan etc...

UK, the app is kind of a rip off of Instacart, but the items you can buy will be more limited simply becasue I myself dont like looking at a shit ton of the same product.
I also should of specified, that I only want to stay in my town for now because of capital problems.
I pic related.

Fair enough.
What would be a good replacement?
To be honset with you, at first I was thinking of offering freshly blended fruit drinks and other smoothies, like oreo and stuff, but the margins for that would be pretty thin, id need about 1000 orders a day to make it feasible...
