Its not shrinking, just nobody wants to fucking retire.

The baby boomer generation is literally
a bunch of selfish we deserve everything
we did it all fuck heads who want 4 different
retirements and full medical benefits. They
are literally exactly like this generation but
older so we have to listen to them bitch and
moan on a moral level

that's the same thing.
labor demand is way way down due to less jobs in multiple sectors paired with increased demand for work (mostly due to insane educational debts but also less secure retirements) which ends up crowding the entire market top to bottom.

>take tour of company that installs fire safety equipment
>was a firefighter for 5 years until my knee exploded
>think I have an in because my cousin I'm close with is their resident bookcooker
>they don't hire me
>she tells me they basically can't afford to hire a new person with experience because employing dozens of 65 year old who won't retire is too expensive

The job market is 26% larger than it was in 1990.
The issue is also that population grew by 28% in the same time period.
The issue is not that the job market is shrinking, but that it is growing slower than the population, even for a first world nation below replacement birth rate.
