there was a mental barrier around $775 coming from the summer spike
when it managed to cross that line it became a runner and nobody was sure how high it would go. lead to a lot of chasing and FOMO traders getting in.
the crash came coincindentally right when bitcoin was just barely breaking all time highs when the bank of china made some statements about how they were seeking increased regulation of the chinese bitcoin exchanges (the biggest bitcoin trading forums in the world)
