What do you guys think about working in the Tourism industry?

There is no money, unless you want to switch jobs a lot.

Shit industry.
You have 3 options to make bank:

1 - leadership
Become the leader of others. Make tons of money in management leading dumb as fuck, belligerent, uncommitted, lazy and ethnically diverse teams. Success comes from being able to make them like you. Failure comes from having contemp for these degenerate scum.

2 - Service
Serve in a TOP establishment. Serve the mega rich as a waiter/bartender/concierge. Learn to embrace your inner bitch as you learn to smile at cunts who would smile at you if they run you over in their merc. Success comes from learning what true service is and gaining huge tips. Failure comes from not enjoying staying up late and getting up early or developing a hatred of the surprisingly rich bogens you will serve.

3 - Middle Management
Kinda the midpoint between the two above. Operating in Sales/Marketing/Finance/HR you serve the leadership whilst providing for the server. Success comes from being pleasant office company. Failure comes from not being able to network well enough to gain or maintain a position in the industry.


Overall hospitality advice?
- Kill self if this is the only industry you know how to earn a wage from
- Become a good server, graduate to Middle manager and then finally enter leadership.
- if you ever hit one of the reasons for failure, quit. ASAP.

I've been working in a Hotel for almost 4 years now. Im actually writing from the reception right now.

It sucks, humans are really fucked up.
This industry makes people depressed in less than half a year. I know alot of people that went totally crazy. The average employment of a worker is less than 2 years.

I am lucky to be in a family run business that makes good profit and serves the middle class population. Got my position through a friend.

I can tell you the most recent story, which drove me and my female coworker crazy, it happened this week.

>year 2013, a vip guest 72 yo woman who was very wealthy lost her husband to cancer.
>6 months later develops major schizophrenia
>she sees animals that bite her skin open an eat through all the furniture
>instead of going to the doctor she decides to go to the museum of biology and animals
>she constantly talks to other guests about these animals that inhibit her body and her room
>me and other people from the management find her a nursing home on the other side of the country
>she moves there happily

>she is back, with only a backpack
>guy working at the reception didnt know her, so he gave her a room
>her schizophrenia is now worse than ever, she developed paranoia and thinks she is hunted by some kind of weird person from the nursing home

>we call hospital, they say she refused any treatment for psychological illness

>now I have to make the decision to either kick her out in the cold wheather (-5°C + snow), that would be a death sentence because she will run around the streets in circles
