So I was just laid off from my wageslave job. I have about 17k in savings, Canadian 23 y/of male. No major assets, but no expenses other than food rent and phone bill.

I went to business school but dropped out before finishing, I don't know where to go from here.

My goals are pretty standard, I want to own an apartment and pay mortgage instead of rent.

No car right now, I would rather not get one.

If anyone could give some good advice I would appreciate it. Feeling a bit lost

what was your job?

what school and program did you goto/not finish?

what were your grades?

how long has it been since you've last been in school?

Thanks james

I worked in a restaurant. Been about a year since I was in school, the program was business mgmt

17k in savings is pretty good for your age.

Try and find a part-time job at least to keep yourself from dipping into that until you can find something permanent. If you don't have a roommate, consider getting one. It might suck, but it'll save you a lot in the long run

Grades were consistently around 75% in almost all classes, except in accounting, I slacked a lot through that even though I understand the value of it.
I had a bit of a comfortable attitude with school because I didn't know what I wanted to do with it.

what school? was it a commerce in business management?

how many years did you complete? why did you not finish?
>>
>>1726022

Would you recommend day trading with that amount?
>>
>>1726013
Inverted Satan rolls with you, it should work out well as give it a few years to get established in another job, go for a trade obviously, anything doesn't matter, forget higher education for now it's a racket. Maybe get some employer paid training instead. By that time the condo bubble will have totally deflated and you can have your pick at better price points, that's if the entire world doesn't go to shit which seems to always be a possibility now. Too many apes, not enough bananas - this is the biz of modern life.

Oh, and don't stick your dick in crazy, should be smooth sailing.

Prosperity isn't your thing. Congrats on finding your path early in life. Experiment with some hard drugs and experience the pleasures a poor, short life has to offer

2 years, it's a technical Institute with a fairly good reputation in my area. They crush their students with a predetermined course load and a large minority of people don't make it through the programs. BCIT in Vancouver
>>
>>1726027

No, keep on adding to your savings until you have enough for a down payment on an apt + a 3 month emergency fund. Do not get into day trading that unless you really know what you're getting into.
>>
>>1726028

Unfortunately I don't stick my dick in anything lately. The occasional escort, but I don't really have the disposable income for that anymore
>>
>>1726027
FUCK NO

Dont day trade your life savings. Day trading is for disposable income
>>
>>1726031
ok, you have options with continuing your education.

There's this thing called transfer credit. every school has some kind of transfer credit policy. you can use the courses you've already taken at BCIT to get a decent amount of transfer credit in a advanced business diploma at your local college, which may have an integrated co-op program within that business program.

However, what you will need to get credit for these prior courses is a transcript from your school (easy) and the course outlines/syllabses of each course you took(sometimes hard to find).

Best case scenario: you get full credit for what you've done, get accepted into a 3 year advanced business diploma program with co-op, graduate in one year and a half for the co-op.

if the program doesn't have a paid co-op it's not worth doing
