Actually state by state it varies, some states allow lottery companies to identify you publicly in order to collect the prize. Not every state allows you to collect anonymously.

If you AREN'T going to get a professional to do the work for you.

First, put aside HALF of the money. Half of that money is going to taxes. They don't fucking warn you that that shit is taxable so you can fuck yourself good.

Second, buy a CHEAP but well built home. You want a new furnace, new roof, etc.

Put aside $200,000 as maintenance for the house. You'll need more, but $200K should keep your house up for you for a good twenty years, maybe even your life, depending on what you end up needing.

Invest at least $1 million in low risk stocks and bonds.

Make the maximum payable investment into whatever sort of retirement account you qualify for.

Keep working unless you hate working; a job history can open doors to getting you into a 'dream job' if you want to pursue that. Feel free to cut back hours, though; you're working for employment history not for money, really.

With a much lower amount, you get less wriggle room, but you still get fucked on taxes.
