Does /biz/ ever play scratchers or the lottery?
Lottery is a regressive tax on stupid people.
Even playing for fun makes you an idiot.

What if you're desperate?

Why would you play the lottery if you're desperate?
>>1708647
Because a few dollars can potentially become many dollars.

It won't though
A few dollars buys a 10 pound bag of rice

shhh, keep your logic the fuck out of here
because anyone who is smart enough to understand the concept of EV doesn't buy lottery tickets.
Never done it and I told myself to never do it ever since I was a kid.
My mother was always buying lottery various days a week and never earned the big pot. Because it's just a stupid thing to do
I'm in a lottery syndicate at work but that's for keeping up appearances. I also get to be involved in great workplace banter such as "having invested £25 of our winnings we've made a profit of £6.20!".
It's about £40 a year and I've got real investments. This is just a bit of fun and contributes towards positive workplace relationships which are invaluable.
Yeah, I probably spent as much money as Elliot Rodger had on lottery tickets since 2012. I just spent $50 today, mostly on the California Super Lotto, and also some fantasy 5 and Mega Millions.

The one and only scratch off I bought was for $1, I ended up winning $25. I'm determined to stay in the green and will never buy one again.

mathematically speaking he is right. but mathematics can't account for the dopamine your brain produces when you gamble.
If you play lottery, your chances will increase if you play for 250€ once instead of 50 * 5€.
An increase of 0.000000xxx%
It's just entertainment, like seeing a movie or going to a carnival except way cheaper. Who cares?
I don't think /biz/ has changed their opinions from a week ago. This isn't really one of the most productive regular threads we really need...
