Can we have a tax thread?
The season of tax ballers is around the corner. What was the highest amount you ever got "back!"
My are usually always low, a couple of hundred of dollar. I know that's a good thing, but why does it seem like everyone I know get a couple of grand back?

>ITT eternal poorfags think a large tax return is a good thing
Educate a moron? Is a large return no good?

So adjust my withholdings?

Because most people are disciplined enough to not treat that as an investment plan instead. I'm also not as opposed to supporting the infrastructure I rely on.
I sold all my dogshit loser stocks for fy 2016 at some net loss. Just because I dunno if Ill have a job next year.
My main concern is how do I not seem stupid to the guy that files my taxes?

I don't understand your first sentence. Most people would spend their tax return on consumer items throughout the year if they had filed the minimum tax, so they feel like getting it all at once is some sort of windfall when actually it's just the feeling of saving money.
If you save that money by putting it in savings accounts you're getting an interest rate that is the opportunity cost of giving it to the government, never mind that you could put it in a higher return investment
