At least try to meme correctly. You're lacking in Taleb.

I'm not an Austrian, I just included to give a diversity of perspectives so the Austrians wouldn't chimp out and derail the thread.

OP self bump. Thought there'd get more traction on this.

Lots of reading
Hey /biz/. I want to learn more about economics and this general seems perfect. I like reading books and I 2as wondering if you could recommend me some econ literature

Start by reading some pop stuff, then move onto the books by the most influential: Smith, Marx, Keynes, Mises, Friedman, Thaler (if you want to learn behavioral).
Then depending on what topic interests you most, move on to books/papers focusing on that specific topic.
Probably should get a textbook on econometrics, but that can wait until you get to more modern authors.

Which of these blogs are worth reading?

All of them are, as each has a different, even if slightly, position from the others.

To try and spring some life into this general, lets discuss money.
Whats the best system; fiat? commodity? certificates of commodities?
Who should print it? What should be the bank's role in the money supply?
Is inflation desirable? What about deflation?

>elusive
Only mises.
Rest are just socialist propaganda
Do peoples economics follow their politics and visa versa?
Politically and economically I'm a classic liberal but socially I'm quite conservative and nationalist.
Interested in others

I feel the same way. I'm probably best described as a neoliberal economically speaking, but personally I'm against things like mass immigration for cultural reasons. Amnesty, IMO, is economically right but I'm against it because of the impact it'd have culturally and politically.

Fiat money is the best. It should be printed by a central bank, which should serve as a lender of last resort and a monetary policy authority. Low inflation is desirable, around 2% perhaps, but NGDP would be a better target than inflation.
