Has anyone here sold their startup?
Tell your experience. Did you retire after selling it?

A friend of mine sold his machine learning voice recognition software startup to Apple.
I think selling tech startups is a lot easier than any other kind.

What is he doing these days?
Just Rollin' in a Lambo?

Nah, he works for apple now. That tends to be the case when a big company buys out smaller ones.

The whole point of making a startup financially sound is to figure a way to market it that will fit within an existing company's portfolio. Like make it something that will fill a gap in Yelp's existing suite, and they will buy it. Start ups on their own don't make any money. The whole point is to develop a user base and then sell them to someone else with a similar user base.

That actually makes a lot of sense.
