Maybe in Tucson at a mineral show or ebay.

Get some pretty Aquamarines und sell them 100 times higher. Won't get much for them, maybe $300 for a 100 ct good quality stone.
You won't find gem quality stones, so you have to wait for suckers like Frank in Breaking Bad.

Get them tested. A lot of gemstones are synthetic (and go for a lot cheaper) than the real thing. Even worse, it's easy to replicate a convincing gemstone out of glass.

Buy a handfull for $10 bucks but then get them tested
