gold has been quite steadily going down for the last few years, why do you think it is a good investment?

So instead of in a bank, you plan to let the gold bares sit around in your basment or something?

I would only convert my money into precious metals when I think my countrys currency is going to lose mad value, other than that I don't see the point.

Never let your money "sit around" ( except a few months worth of salary for when suddenly bad times arrive) keep it moving dude.

I have a couple ounces of gold for a long term investment, or basically whenever the price gets high enough for me to sell. Gold is currently the lowest its been in a while. A few years ago it was going for $1800 an ounce. Buy some now, if you dont mind waiting a little bit for a bigger profit. It wont ever go below $1000 ever again unless the economy does amazing for a long run.

Gold isnt really an investment (OK, there are some people that view it as one but they are a relative minority)

Gold is a hedge. A form of insurance.

Only consider it AFTER you have developed a core amount of savings and investments.

For example:

1. 6 - 12 months of living expenses as cash.
2. Get a mortgage if you are settled enough instead of renting.
3. Decide if local pension laws are beneficial then maximise any employer contributions.
4. Tax free saving options (ie UK has the ISA)
5. Low cost index funds
6. Specific stocks, bonds or funds based on personal research
7. maybe some p2p
8. maybe real estate
9. consider hedging with precious metals

Hello Guys I'm kinda new here on this board and since you guys discussing aboot golds, can I ask you guys a question.

Any of you guys heard Zenith Golds before? Here in my place alot and I do mean alot of people keep hyping it up as the best gold investment and guaranteed profit.

Just asking cos my aunt got into this and she's knee deep in trouble and I need to convince her somehow not spend more money on it as she kept believing it is a legit company
