The guys at id worked weekend marathons to get Wolfstein out, while still working full time jobs. They weren't the only ones either. most people don't have the time or energy to invest 1-2 years into a game, most people see it as a stupid endeavor so forget about networking.

Do you think they are the only developers trying that hard to succeed? My point isn't that you shouldn't work hard, it's just unlikely you will become a millionaire in the process. I know people who work their asses off that don't even make as much as I do. Some people are dillusional that the harder you work, the more you will make.
