why aren't you trading options, anon?
actually i sell out of the money puts every month on stocks with the highest implied vol. i'm not comfy with the current S&P500 P/E so i try to diversify my strategies when i have free capital to work with

do you pick from a group of stocks or do you screen across all optionable stocks for high IV (percentile?) ? i mostly trade vol as well
I've been looking into this. It seems like a good idea for people like me with low capital to maximize my exposure. I'm young so high risk/high reward seems like a better route to go.

i do it the lazy way and own $HVPW

If you don't like the P/E shouldn't you be buying puts. Selling puts is getting long.

No, selling puts is betting against stocks going down. if prices remain flat then I win. If I was long, I'd wouldn't be up or down.

HVPW has almost a 0% YoY return. why? you could have sold a single SPX put spread and had a better return

I've owned for 4 years, and it's averaged 4.3% overall yearly returns. It's certainly not a top performer for me, but as I mentioned I own it as an alternative strategy. It's about 3% of my overall portfolio.
But I am.
ITM calls on ANET and OOTM puts on TWTR
Because I don't have the capital for it. Just like every single market I thought I had a chance of making some money in.
I'm never gonna make it.
Been paper trading for about 14 months but been trading with options about 8 months. Am going to go live at the start of 2017.
Not just options but everything, stocks, options, futures, futures options, bonds, currencies, etfs. Anything.
If you're serious about trading check out Tasty Trade. Someone suggested them to me and I did not regret that one bit. I promise you won't either. It's about managing your own money. Taking control.

Because I don't like gambling.
