There's so many damn apps out there. I feel like everything has been done, so what's the point? Dog walking service? Taken. Food deliver? Taken Weed deliver? Taken. First person shooter? Taken.
I guess it's all about competition, but it's difficult with some apps being the monopoly.

It doesn't matter if the idea is already taken. Look at MySpace and Facebook. The hard thing is to make the app popular. You need good advertisment.

Do it in a way that appeals to an untapped market?
People are fickle and have FOMO. Snapchat managed to come out despite the fact that there was already Instagram, and before that 'Hipstamatic'.

The advantage of being small is you can be agile and swoop in to placate their annoyed customers, especially in segments that don't require the networking effect.
