What should the American:Canadian ratio of my index funds be?
Should I just drop Canada? I'm young, long term investment horizon.
No more than 5% Canadian
Only exception is if you want either a bank heavy or an energy heavy portfolio for whatever reason

>Should I just drop Canada?
Yes.
What's the point of it? Oil is being shorted by everyone into the next 20 years

>Should I use TD Waterhouse? Kinda want to keep everything together
Yeah, sure.
The difference between brokers is very negligible, and honestly doesn't matter if you're just going to be long-term investing. Doesn't really matter a whole lot.
>I have over 50k to invest so I think the fee is 9$ per trade or quarter (I'm not certain which).
$10 per trade for TDW, that's about the same for most brokers. You might save like $3 or something or buy them commission free but then need to pay ECN fees and shit with other brokers - don't need to worry about this though. $3 per trade more is nothing since you're not regularly trading or anything.
