Hey biz,

I got stuck with a bill from my uni for a couple hundred bucks, but I don't believe I should pay it. I was taking a course in January, but dropped it a week after because I received a job offer and didn't need this bullshit diploma anymore.

I have crazy good job security so I doubt I'll need to go back. Problem is, they charged me 10% of the course's tuition and keep hassling me to pay it, but I'm not willing to pay a couple hundred for a week of course introduction classes having learned absolutely nothing.

So far, I've just been ignoring the letters they're emailing me. Is it worth the risk to my credit score to just continue ignoring? Or will I really suffer in the long run? The institution sucks so I would be willing to screw them if it cost me a bit of cash in the form of shitty credit.

Any of you guys have any experience dealing with bullshit fees?

TLDR will not paying uni fees harm me significantly outside the institution?

it depends how much you will use credit over the next 7-10 years.

there's no way we can know that. Though we can guess that if you don't pay you'll be using credit less than if you do.

I barely use my credit cards, and have the balances paid off in full every month. I like frugal, but may be looking at buying a house in that time span.

I'm wondering if spending the 250 bucks now will be cheaper in the long run than getting a worse interest rate in the future.

I'm a cheap fuck, I know.

Talk to a high official at the school and show you care and you can maybe get it ttaken away. It's that easy.
Don't ignore then like some nigger.
>>
>>1619498
if you buy a car or house in the next ten years it will cost you.

other than that it still depends on how much you use credit. I figure you'd have to charge a thousand or two bux before that 25% APR actually costs more than the bill you didn't pay.
>>
>>1619505
Talk to them how? I don't understand what to say if they just tell me straight up "this is policy" or some shit like that.
>>
>>1619420

I've ignored a handful of debts. They can get fucked.

Don't be scared OP.

As a graduate of the school with intentions to provide betterment to the schools facilities through donations over the next 20 years as a way of saying thank you for the opportunity this school has provided myself, I do believe we can make this bill go away through our discussion today. Do you not?
>>
>>1619613
So basically try to convince them that they'll make up the difference in donations? I'm not sure they would fall for that, even being the libs they are.

I dunno though, I'm pretty noobish when it comes to this stuff. Thanks for the input.
>>
>>1619606
Lol agreed. Has it worked out for you?
>>

Be the nice guy at first and then be prepared to be a shithead if need be.

Always explain a benefit to the other person and always offer a cop out on a situation, "I know mistakes happen especially with the stress of a new school year but it appears I was billed when I shouldn't have been. Are you the right person to speak with on getting this resolved today."

Giving people a chance to say, "We fucked up," goes a long way in business and seeming to be okay with it goes even further.

Who would you rather help the understanding guy or the demanding rude asshole?
>>
>>1619643
this is actually good advice op I would do it if I were you
>>
>>1619643
Ok this makes sense. I wish i could speak to them in person but they are located about 800 km from where I now live. I feel email is a lot weaker.

Thing is, I was the one who missed the deadline though.
>>
>>1619624

zero problems.

I had no problem getting 2 credit cards. Both allow me $5k in spending.
>>
>>1619420
Defaulting on a $250 debt makes you a giant ass. You pulled out late and this is literally chump change. Just pay your dues and don't be a titanic wad. Call them up and negotiate first if you must.

It's a socialist institution, anon. I'd feel no remorse if I cost these fuckers money.
