I want to start my own little web dev for some side money, I can shred the competition but clients want to see a portfolio, so it's the experience = job cycle thing

What do?

Create websites, add them to your portfolio, and sell them on Flippa.

This pretty much. Think of it this way: you can make a website for yourself and this bussiness. There's one.

You can make mockups that don't function. So you can save time. Basically, get to work: stop worrying about the chicken and the egg

I wouldn't rely on web dev for side money.

Great idea for folio building but there's a chance I will earn nothing from it

I'm gonna go with this, just create ready-to-go sites and put them in my folio, then replace them with functioning website once they're bought. Thanks anon.

How come? People in my area suck at it so I think I stand a chance.

>in my area

It is a big world and web development industry is a bit of a mess as well as over saturated. Having a start up digital agency/web dev company is becoming increasingly hard and unless you can spring one or two big clients who will have long term or will commit to rolling contracts it will be hard to get off the ground.

I know, but I live in a small town where people aren't very tech literate. Lots of businesses with unlisted web 1.0 sites.

I'm not going for a big time deal.
