At least people who worked in menial factory jobs in the 1950s (before boomers shipped outsourced everything to China because hey, fuck the future economic viability of the country that raised and fed you) saw that their work had a tangible purpose and they didn't have to wear fucking gimmicky fast food clown costumes.
