My university management skills course assigned our class an assignment that requires a group of class mates to start a business with $5. This business has one week to operate and generate profit while also having to add one aspect of sustainability to your business- be it economical, environmental and/or social. My group and I have spent some hours brainstorming on some ideas but can't think of one that can achieve sustainability and profit at such a low cost while taking into consideration any legal reifications from external factors such as the township, school, etc. I live in Peterborough ON, CA. Would appreciate some basic frame works of businesses in which we could work off of!

Dont think about "what business can I start with $5." Think about "what business can i start with no initial investment."
>>
>>1598094
This is a very good point, I have brought this point up before. Costless usually will mean a service-type of business given the limited time. However we cannot find a good service type business that has no startup complications

post ad on craiglistlist offering designs service for banner/logo design for $45. Outsource design to fiverr for $5. Repeat.
>>
You could offer to pick up peoples electronic scrap and then sell it

These are some great ideas. Espeically the logo design one considering my brother is an artist who has a knack for creative design who probably wouldn't mind making a few dollars.
>>

you can't register a business for 5 dollars, go buy a box of condoms and prostitute yourself, the $5 investment will keep you from contracting STDs.
>>1598094
no REAL BUSINESS can be started for $5 legally speaking
>>1598143
and what happens when they back out and you blew your $5 on a shitty logo
>>1598150
good luck buying a car and gas and insurance for $5

Plan out a multi-phase business strategy.

For example:

>phase one: raising funds
you're essentially raising enough funds to execute phase two (ie. purchase tooling)

You can do this a number of ways, from panhandling to asking for donations from friends and family to shit like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoypZyibQro

>Phase Two: Tooling up and preparing for production
this is where you really have to get creative, what I did to get through this phase as a kid was purchase a button making machine like link related https://www.amazon.com/Mophorn-Button-Machine-Circle-Cutter/dp/B01J9FGB72/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1478117621&sr=8-6&keywords=button+making and sold unauthorized merchandise in low risk areas like state fairs, political rallies, and car shows. If it needs to be one hundred percent legal then you can solely sell original button designs or designs in the public domain. (think Gadsden flag, swastikas, general edgy shit, etc)
>Phase 3: use your fucking imagination
>>
>>1598256
PHASE 1 IS FRAUDULENT AKA NOT A BUSINESS
>>
>>1598291
Whatever faggot, his prereqs are pretty ridiculous. A more realistic (and less scammy) phase one is getting a minimum wage job at McDonald's.
>>
>>1598085
start an office cleaning company. Use green chemicals you bought for $5.

buy insurance and license after the first paycheck.
>>
Ya I agree the requirements are pretty ludicrous and unrealistic. The guidelines indicate that we start next Monday and have until Friday to operate. My group has thought about serving soup/hot chocolate to appeal to the seasonal market, however sustaining the cost of a food service/maintaining a full-time school schedule and part-time job.

Depending on where you live, it doesn't have to cost anything to start a business. As a sole-proprietorship or joint venture, you're not required to apply as a corporation for legal or tax reasons, so there are no filing fees in that regard. Some states also only require licenses for very specific services. My state has almost no licensing requirements for small businesses.

If I wanted to start a small business offering almost any kind of service and didn't want to file as an LLC ($125 filing fee), it wouldn't cost me anything. I could literally just start. The only cost would be overhead, which would likely come to more than $5 for almost any (legal) business idea.

Buy cheap silver jewellery at Aliexpress, sell at eBay, repeat. Later use Alibaba for higher piece number and more discount.

Open an account with an online sports betting bookmaker like bwin or bet365.

Deposit the $5 and take the "new deposit bonus", they match your $5, now you have $10.

Put all $10 on a bet with around 2.0 odds. If you win, double your money.

Do this until you lose. Keep graphs of the winnings, call your company "Green Sports Investment Firm" or some shit. Its 100% environmentally sustainable because you don't create any waste.

For your class presentation, you say how "in biz, you gotta take risks, so thats what we did, literally!"

"We learned that taking risks on the Toronto Maple Leafs is a huge fail for business strategy xD"

>The whole class lols

While they lol you give that sexy nerd Chloe (pic related) a lusty stare right in her eyes

After class you ask her if she wants to come out later, she says yes of course.

You take her our, get her drunk, take her back to your place and pound the shit out of that nerdy whore's little canadian pussy.

This but you have to record the pussy pounding. Upload that shit to pornhub and then once you make some decent money from the ad revenue, present your success to the class. Don't forget to get """"""consent"""""" for the recording so you don't end up in prison.

Yo OP, you and your group are failures if you cannot come up with a simple side hustle that can be started with 5$.

If it were me I would just craft things that sell well on college campuses. Some examples: baked goods, LED strand lights, knit goods and desk plants. If you were cheeky you could do things like start a Patreon for some stupid reason or a Kickstarter. If you were less creative you could just walk around town asking people for help raking leaves or mowwing lawns. There are so many descent ideas that take so little I am boggled by this shit.

sell bottled water
>>
>>1599388
Alright don't have to get cheeky now, obviously the ideas you listed are ones we considered when brainstorming. The problem for some of these ideas is that- we have limited manpower- 2 other group members (1 lives an hour away from town) and the cost of sustaining and starting up a baked goods shop efficiently with $5 is not feasible. Our group last night did come up with an idea to create planter kits using recycled pop cans and bottles, filling each one with soil and with plant seeds we purchased bulk of online. These kits are then wrapped up in burlap sack material, with the option of adding your own personal message for a gift or a pre-made motivational message. The only cost that we incur is the cost of purchasing the flower seeds, that transaction cost $5 for 1000 seeds of varied plants. The burlap material I can provide for free via my brother's coffee store he runs.
