I just got my first job in IT doing Linux technical support. The company will pay for any certifications or training I want to get, and more education comes with raises or a promotion. After I pass Linux Essentials I get a raise, then I will be looking for the next thing to learn. I am thinking of doing Puppet or some kind of DevOPs course, or doing LPIC. I have heard a lot about there being a glass ceiling for IT careers, and I don't want to get myself into a role like help desk manager or something where I can't grow and learn. I'm great with people so could definitely see myself in some kind of sales or management role down the line, but obviously that would be waaay later. Anyone with senior level IT experience? How did you get there and what can I expect as I move along with my career?

Would rather not say since the company is relatively small. It is a VPS provider like Linode or Rackspace.

Puppet and Ansible are really common. Can't go wrong having experience with those

That's what it seems like. Any thoughts on Docker?
