I have $200k in savings
i'm sick of my job so I want to start some sort of business
or do something with the money that can make me a living
I know safe / standard investments wouldn't make much
>putting in bank
>shares
>other low risk options
but my parents are willing to let me stay with them for a few years
and live expense free, because I've always made myself available to help them in the past
I feel like $200k is enough to (eventually) become self reliant, (if used properly)
without having to work (at least not full time)
am I being unrealistic?
open to most ideas

OP here, here are two examples that have inspired me recently
https://www.yomyomf.com/this-asian-kiwi-has-made-millions-selling-waist-trainers/
sure the sponsorship cost $300k, but if I did this, I could find someone willing to accept a smaller amount
or I could offer them equity in final profits (instead of getting a flat $300k they could end up getting way more in the long term)

I'm assuming this guy had very little starting capital, so why couldn't this be easily replicated by someone with a decent amount of capital?
(he's also offering to teach people how he did it as well)
I'm also interested in website or app development, but again I'm open to pretty much everything

where would you recommend?
I live in Australia currently
but I was just reading about average property and rent costs in Texas
>rent $1000
>house price $177k
that seems too good to be true, right?

Become the next Donald Trump and deal in real-estate

He'll need a small loan of a billion dollars if he wants to get into AUS real estate
self bump

I live in Texas, those averages are brought way down by all the small towns. If you want to be involved in a major city like Austin or Dallas, houses cost a minimum of $400k if they're anywhere near civilization.

ahh, right
is there anywhere in the US where you can get a decent house near a city for less than $250k?

The Midwest.

I bought a house in plano, TX, which is a suburb of dallas, 2 years ago for $130k. Leases for $1,400. Your numbers are not accurate. Properties in south dallas are inexpensive as well.

so couldn't I buy a house for around that amount and then barely work again?
if 130,00 gets you a lease of 1400,
x 12 = 16,800
a house for $200k should get a lease of at least $1600 right? ($19200)
(i have a house to live in so I barely have any expenses)
Buy a house/motorhome and rent the rooms or you can also flip cars.
