Its not quite true, if on cash you can technically day trade with 2k - 20x100=2000

You might not find 20 times in 3 days so you will always have some trade to make which is fun and all of it is free so you don't have to be wildly right just right to make like 5 bucks on a trade.

Personally, I moved all my money out of Robinhood rather than "fix" my account which is now Instant and am going full time on UStockTrade. Its so close to the actual markets that I honestly don't even know if there is a difference for my trading level.

Here's what i think happened with AMD, for the last 5 years or so every single one of their earnings reports has yielded in a drop on the ER reveal regardless of what the actual earnings report says about the company.

Knowing this a high frequency algorithmic trader or some nerdy quant fuck would plug that information into whatever trading formulas he has for playing earnings reports and trades would execute at or near the market close.


nearly 4.5 million shares were moved in the final 5 minutes of trading on October 20th which was likely huge amounts of high frequency traders loading up on shorts.

The first minute into after hours at 15:01, another 1.12 million shares got moved.

A stray trade sent the price up from $7 to $7.20 which likely caused the high frequency algorithms to misbehave and either start dumping their shares or loading up on shorts. Due to the nature of high frequency trading, the market effectively froze up for a couple seconds causing the price to fall rapidly as High frequency trading algorithms were desperately looking to dump their shares while nobody was on the receiving end to buy them in after hours. With no human traders to buy shares the HFTAs hunted for limit buys way down the price structure both appeasing their desire to get a good price for their short sales and trying to minimize losses by selling as fast as they can. Once a couple limit buys get triggered a ridiculous number of stop losses get triggered driving the price down even more in the minute after the flash crash.

The HFTAs also might have blocked channels of liquidity for a couple of seconds by flooding finance channels with what is essentially a denial of service attack stopping any fast acting buy orders or anything else that could provide liquidity to the stock making shorts money

Liquidity was completely dried up for a few second while the HFT algorithms caused a flash crash in the stock similar to the 2010 crash and the flash crash in GBP a couple weeks ago.

Can someone please tell me why I can't day trade? I have 25.3k in my account. It dipped under that last Thursday, so I'm flagged as a pattern day trader, but I started the day over 25k. The settings tells me I'm restricted, but it also tells me I'm exempt from the rule because I have over 25k, but it still won't let me day trade.

Something like AMD has large institutional investors like banks and hedge funds whigh has positions in the tens of thousands or millions of shares.

My position is 1886 shares, where I used to have 1k shares and I feel like I've put the most into AMD out of the entire board for quite a long period of time.

The next closest biggest position I've seen on the board is around 700 shares or so. If we pooled together all our AMD positions, I doubt we even hit the 5k mark.

Here let me demonstrate

At a leverage of 1:20 I can put in 630 bucks for 2k shares. Which is the equivalent to 13k bucks. If the shares go up 5 cents I make 90 bucks. If the shares go down 5 cents I lose 90 bucks.
This makes for huge gains and losses procentual to your investing capital. I don't need to mention that CFDs are extremely risky but an additional risk is if your capital is too low and triggers a margin call and your positions get automatically closed because your losses would exceed your capital. So it's easy to lose everything if you poker with too much money. AMD drop over the weekend made me really panic because it almost triggered a margin call and I had to add another 1000 bucks to prevent it.
I'm really happy that AMD bounced back. Now I made 300 bucks from like a 600 bucks investment, which is a 50% return which is nice.

Decided to hop on WINT like that one anon said bc im a filthy degenerate gambler....
