What's your point? You can't be trusted to exercise your free will to decide whether you voluntarily open a savings account with a certain bank, so they better outlaw it?
You must be 18 to post on 4chan...

Momentum savings account is probably the best savings scotiabank has right now.
1.5% on balances over 5,000 - catch is if you take money out before the 90 day momentum, you only get .75% and the momentum savings period starts again.

What about after 90 days?

Credit Suisse AG (SLVO) 15% annual dividend

It's basically a dual-layered savings accounts:
1. base interest of 0.75% annual paid monthly
2. if balance is over 5,000 - an extra 0.75% annual interest - paid every 90 days. If you make a withdrawal, this 90 days is reset.
So if you use this account you can basically make a withdrawal 4 times a year and you'll get 1.5% a year.

Supply and demand. Why should they pay you for liquid cash that they don't need and can't make money from?
Or do you think the government's job is to give you free money?

Is there a charge for the account though?

Nope

If you use Scotiabank I'd recommend checking out some of their index/mutual funds. I know people think mutual funds are a bit of a meme, but there's quite a few that have a good history of 3-4% steady returns at least.
