I'm completely renovating someone's backyard, I've done this before I've just never been paid for it...How do I give them the quote?

Do I just give them one lump sum?

or

Do I price out each individual material/part and show how it fits into the lump sum?

Yes

is it ok to include in the cost a charge for potential extra materials?

or should I just round every cost up to account for this

thanks

This but inflate the cost of materials slightly so your cost of labor doesn't seem too high.

Explain and sell what you are going to do for the money.

Give them your experience, your previous results, and if they ask, break down what you are going to give them for the money.

Decide your hourly rate, multiply it by the number of hours worked
Add on materials used, maybe with a markup.

Your initial quote is an estimate on time and materials.
>>
Its all depends on the job, as a masonry contractor my quotes never include material cost been like that for 5 years >< if they did i dont think many would call back lmao

Fed tax 15-30%?, say 20%
Medicare tax 2.9%
Soc Sex tax 12.4%
Total tax = 35.3% + any state tax on earnings

(Materials + labor)*1.353 =what you charge
>might want to round up, so just do 1.4.

If you're really cool, you'd call a few contractors who work in this area and get estimates from them and then quote around there minus a nice discount.
