Anyone know anything about commercial fishing enterprises? I'm not talking deckhand, I'm talking purchasing/leasing quota, buying a boat, and hiring a crew. Beyond having to invest a large sum of money, what other requirements are there?
There's an assload of money to be made and the oceans are in great shape unlike the media wants you to believe.

The only people making big bucks doing this are running rigs way out of your price range anon. Don't get your business ideas from reality tv u dumbfuck.
It's a gamble. People who are in the industry are there because they are passionate about it, not because they're Jews.

For less then cost than an average house you can easilly get a 70 foot or longer vessel that can work in all kinds of conditions.
And I didn't get the idea from reality TV, I got it from watching boats come in to the dock and offload their catch.

This one is sold, but 250k could have gotten you this boat and a few fishing licenses sold along with it.
I'm just wondering if, assuming money isn't an issue, are there any other legal things preventing me from just buying a boat and licenses?

well it depends on what you are targeting but if you want to get really rich you will need to compete with the large seiners which means a 300ft or larger ship.

There is an enormous amount of risk in commercial fishing. It is possibly one of the most brutal forms of entrepreneurship from the risk perspective.
