anything that's already super rare is protected.
anything that's not super rare is either impossible to extinct by a single business or prohibitively expensive.
also - who would pay obscene amounts of money for a creature just because it's rare? you couldn't even start breeding again because the genetic diversity would be utter shit and they'd die out in two generations anyway.
also, it's be super funny if after 9 years they croak, escape or get stolen...

1. There's no way you would be able to wipe out a species without attracting the attention of conservation groups, which would lead to widespread condemnation and possibly arrest.
2. When extinction is caused by humans, it is usually the byproduct of a profitable activity such as logging or poaching. Without profiting from causing the extinction itself, whatever you make from selling those last remaining creatures would be a small fraction of what you spent eradicating them.
