Yes. That's why cryptocurrency is used to buy drugs. Def a pyramid scheme. But wouldn't fiat currency be the same thing?

Not really. Fiat is used by real countries en masse.so every country uses different currency as the base. Unlike crypto, where everyone uses btc as base

Say I wanted to invest $100 in crypto on some coin or whatever.

A few months later, it slowly crept up to $150.

Buy the coin with btc, then you have to sell said coin back for btc when you profited. Then you can sell btc for usd on poloniex or coinbase.

You buy stock hope for it to go up 20 bucks in 50 years and then sell it to to someone who hopes to also sell it after 50 years.
