I got my BSc degree in Maths with Stats with the intention of getting a comfy finance job, and it turned out I will fall into a major depression due to factors outside my control, completely fuck up my degree by not attending a whole year's exam session and having to delay it to the following year, settling for a shitty teacher's job for two years and now finally getting a Master's offer and starting the course trying to unfuck the last 5 years in 1 year, while posting on 4chan for anxiety management.

Got a BA in Japanese language and culture. You now think I am retarded.
I wanted to work as an English teacher in Japan, to secure a long term visa and eventually citizenship. Needed a degree in literally anything to apply, and the Japanese degree taught me the language and culture. Cost me 17k but I got to spend enough time studying here that I didn't have to get used to a new job and new country at the same time.
I fit in well here while less prepared foreigners start twitching out one month in. Get enough to save a lot and will slowly start buying houses to rent to coworkers.

All in all not too bad. I've had full-time work 66% of the time since graduation, and engineering- or mining-related work for about 80% of that time. I've gotten decent work experience, made OK money, and have done relatively well in comparison to my peer group. Not terrible for 24.

The problem with that, I hear, is that once your out of the engineering field for a couple years, recruiters won't touch you anymore, unless you go back for a Master's first. You forget all that stuff that you learned pretty quickly.
