4chan has so much traffic it's exceeded Moot's original philosophy of keeping boards vague and all encompassing, there's too many normies on 4chan now for that philosophy to be effective.

Just look at /tv/... only a third of the posts are actually about film and television, it's basically /hr/2.0 with frogposting, trolling, and industry speculation.

No one actually watches TV or movies on that board. it should really be subdivided three ways because it's three different communities smooshed together.

This board should stay opened, it's one of the only boards I'm actually writing to. I received legit good advices (inb4 buy crypto) multiple times and it'd suck to lose the small but great community we built over time here.

I don't get why someone would buy 4chan without a good solid plan of making revenue. Instead he puts the blame on the community by "informing us prior doing anything". alexa top 60 website engineer here. this merging doesnt make sense. this is not how you "save money". caching and cdn configurations is. believe me i do 3 times the traffic this place does. ive calculated server cost, probably around 2k (you only need about 4 or 5 for this place believe it or not), a few million uniques means nothing. what he should do is fragment cache the thread previews and rebuild pages with that. use redis. and cap images on all the boards that dont need hi res to 500k (with todays image tools you can still do a tom with that)
