Because of the invention of writing meant that successive generations have been able to preserve much of the knowledge of predecessors allowing for more and more technology (re: labor saving) to be used.

Globalization started with the European Colonial Empires, opening up more resources and markets and with the rural to urban switch provoked by the industrial revolution means there is more people on the earth than ever before, and if you assume that on average a person creates more economic value than they consume then there is a greater surplus of economic value than ever before... coupled with great innovations in technology and consumerism there has never bee a better time to be middle-class, especially if you're white.

That and Microwaves. Damn that shit makes cookin n' food shit easy.

This is what I have suspected for a while. I think in terms of freedom and quality of life, this is actually the best generation to be alive.
>>
>>1511372
Except for the Dark Ages, every newest generation was the best, wasn't it?
>>
>>1512253
>he fell for the dark ages meme
>>

>Dark Ages
You must be joking
>>
>>1512265
>>1512283
The Dark Ages were definitely worse than the Roman period.
>>
>>1512289
>worse
Yes, but some tech did continue to get better. More efficient furnaces, weapons of war, etc.
>>
>>1512293
Sure, but how was the quality of life?
I imagine being a plebeian in Rome was probably nicer than being a peasant in Italy.
>>
>>1512289
>The Dark Ages
Welcome to the new Dark Ages.
I hope you're living right.
>>
>>1511372
I think so

>>1512253
Er..... depends which civilization and which social class you belonged to. But with a few hiccups like the dark ages in Europe and the post-golden-age of Islam more or less everything has been on an incline since the rise of Sumer.

At least for European and Semetic cultures anyway.
Although i feel even Indian and Chinese civilization has been on a steady 1500 year incline.

I dunno how you'd judge it anyway, just take solace in the fact that even taboo shit like Porn is available at your fingertips in more varieties than you could ever dream of for pretty much only the cost of an internet connection.

Then remember that you have access to all the canon of western literature, free university lectures on youtube, and 60 years of television shows and over a 100 years of film...

AND... AAAAAAND: Pulled Pork in nearly every Yuppie food truck.

Don't put cooking and microwave in the same sentence.

You're right.
Microwaving is much better. Every time. No exceptions... Michelin star? You can Michelick my ass

>>1512882
You're missing the point: that's something that is taboo and yet you can access it with incredible ease.
Even taboo things are easily accessible.

If you take that as emblematic of the ease of modern life... well... damn life's easy
>>
It's too easy

Where dat old fashioned suffering at?
>>
>>1512911
you're missing the point. easily accessing taboo things actually makes life more difficult. you could argue it makes life a fuller, more enriching experience, and I'd agree with you, but still more difficult/complicated.
>>
>>1512965
>you're missing the point. easily accessing taboo things actually makes life more difficult
Still missing the point.

Taboo implicitly means more difficulty than what is Decorum.

When even taboo is easily accessible then what is Decorum, what is acceptable is effortless.

besides only whinny little bitches who's minds haven't kept up with the progressively increasing IQs complain about the supposed difficulty of the modern world because they are incapable of seeing through the learned-ness of social norms and not taking a pragmatic approach... which might I add doesn't necessarily preclude objective morality.

>Whahhhhhhh I can't control my impulses, modern life is hard and it's not just me excercising low self control... I use Determinism as an excuse... wahhhhhhh
Is what I hear from those who complain. Now if you'll excuse me I think I'm gonna go watch the pieces of media which inspired one of my business heroes, which I can both find out because of the ease with which I can access media archives, and then find illicit bootlegs of said media.
ADIEU!!!
