Is economics a meme science?
>>1500850
More like a Jew science, used to control foreign policy & monetary policy.
There's no absolutes, only (((theories))).
As much of a science as gender today.
It's a great degree but a shitty science.
Having an understanding of economics has been great for almost every aspect of my life. But, if anybody actually asks me to predict anything give a meme answer and walk off like I'm hot shit.

Exactly how I pictured myself in your situation anahananaha

>un undergrad in economics being able to predict anything.
Come back when you have a phd in economics/econometrics with a solid math background, and then you might be able to predict something.
Economics is philosophy dressed up with formulas.
Depends. Much of the theory isn't very predictive due to the huge amount of assumptions, however the concepts tend to be sound. There is a fast growing group of empirical economists, however, that have some of the best methodology in the soft sciences and focus on research design rather than complex econometric modeling.
So overall, it's a little bit of meme, a little bit legit. The key is just being able to realize that and not walk away from your first econ class shouting at people about dead weight loss as if the neoclassical models are infallible like so many libertarians and people on this board do.

I really like that analogy.

> be polish immigrant in USA
> know some maths
> be employed as shitty econometrist by academic political economists
> really cucked
> But one day policy makers decide they need economic figures and precise estimations for their policies
> Give them my mathematical models predictions
>I am now a Chicago Boy
>Use mathematics to claim scientific truth
> Totally ignore the social dimension of economics because fuck what can no fit into my precious mathematical models
>Get employed by the FED and big corporations
> Econometry is now economic science
> Disdain for other social sciences because muh mathematics
> fuck epistemology, real science don't need anything but mathematics and theoric models
Fresh bachelor's econ graduates get good jobs in spite of their econ degree, not because of it. Though if you take the risk and go academia you can make money teaching this to future undergrads.
