Vanguard thinks everyone should carry about 20% portfolio exposure to international bonds.
Should it be something like 60% us stocks, 20% us bonds and 20% international bonds with the Vanguard Total International Bond ETF?
I thought Stocks should be a bit higher in a portfolio mix when you are younger.

Jedi here. I'm also 100% In stocks, until the bond market changes I won't change
No, you have it wrong. They're saying 20% of your bonds should be international, not 20% of your entire portfolio. Hope this helps.

I see. thanks. To meet the minimum for the fund, would it be better to raise your bond mix higher temporarily so I can meet a 20% allocation of international bonds? Keeping it at 20% of my bonds means rising my US bonds to 50k and that would just squeeze in international at 10k.

You could do that. I personally use the Life strategy funds. Keeps life simple since it rebalances automatically everyday.

Vanguard thinks you should give them all your money to manage so they can charge you an administration fee
>not carrying each bond and stock individually to avoid management fees

the administration fee is pretty light though. If I am going to be charged a fee, I may as well take the lowest one.
