I have an idea for a new sex toy that I think would do well with some markets. How do I go about pitching it? Take a prototype to a tradeshow? If I do that, how do I keep the people I show it to from ripping it off?

You won't keep people from ripping you off unless your item is unique enough to be trademarked. What you NEED to do is develop a prototype, raise some interest in the product, contact manufacturers for pricing then potentially go to people who would buy it. Be it trade shows, major distributors ect.
