It's just an app that allows simple trades.
They can offer a commission free setup because they're not spending for the features a real brokerage has (real time quotes, margin, AH, etc.).
Plenty of morons are unaware of this, however, and feel that they are the solution to "Wall Street brokerages rigged by the Jews".

it's a pretty major one - I can deal with the other limitations as they're not that critical for basic portfolio management. But prices being averaged over time is an issue.

Other thing that caught my eye was the warning on their site that trades were subject to bandwidth availability.
