I've tried selling shit on craigslist before and like 40% of the time it goes smooth. Just "Hey do you have item available?" "Yes" "Okay when can we meet?" "Whenever you want, just let me know" "Okay [date] [time] [location]" "Okay see you then"

And it's done. They don't even haggle, just respect the listed price.

Then 60% of the time is the bullshit.

Too late, once you release the money the seller can spend it on whatever they want.

Mercari would have to refund you, then refund the *new* seller the scammer paid your money to who might have already spent the money themselves on another seller, and so on and so on.

This is why when:

if they don't like it, they can return it and not rate the seller.
Mercair then refunds you when you return it to the seller.

I'm running a p2p marketplace and this is a pretty common thing.

On my platform I have tons of bold and red and confirmation boxes, warning people over and over and over, telling them not to leave feedback until they receive an item.

These types of people are maybe like 1 in a 100 where theyre either a scammer or like this guy, completely oblivious.
