How is inheritance not an asset that is part of your networth?

You sound extremely insecure
>>
>>1459597
probably because you dont actually have it?? lol

what if mommy and daddy decide to give the house to the church enstead of you
>>
>>1459601
Not him obviously but when he said "I'm an inheritance fag" it probably implies that he has already received the money. Most likely nobody would include money not yet inherited in their networth, unless it was being actively disputed and they had a good chance of getting it or something
>>
$20k banked.. lots of money in various shit i never use and need to sell probably like $5k

>>
>>1459595
I also work, so no, i'm not dependent on people dying. I didn't ask people in my family to die and leave me money bur thats life.

And yes its in my name so it is my networth now. Problem?

>>1459609
This is correct, I have received assets that fill most of that number.
>>
>>1459614
>>1459615

About same as me, same age too
>>
>>1459589
Honestly?
I own about $90k equity in my house, and my business has about $250k in assignable contracts.

everything else I own is either intangible, mortgaged or relatively worthless.

I could probably sell my business for a million or so, but I don't count that as an asset because the value is hard to pin down and I have no intention of ever selling or borrowing against it.
>>
Is there a thing as negative net worth?

my net worth is somewhere between $60-65k depending on what the market is doing.

Mining is growing steadily, but it's getting more efficient and more mechanized so it's not as easy to notice. A lot of it has moved overseas though.

I just clean up hazardous waste left over from mining. Mostly lead but also soil contaminated with pyrite which oxidizes into sulfuric acid and poisons the water around it.

My company is a glorified earth moving biz. We move contaminated soil to landfills or cover it with clean soil in place. Sometimes we dig ditches to channel surface water around contaminated sites.

Also, will be living with my parents after I graduate, so I should have no expenses except maybe clothes, metro ticket to work, gym pass, and minimal student debt payment.

I expect to save 40K+ /year as a I have an offer sitting for 65K coming out of school right now for a wealth management firm.

>>
>>1462885
Expanding on my recent post, I've heard from others' experience doing similar work the pay is hugely inflated when you work overseas in 'dangerous' areas and that is why pursuing those contracts can be lucrative. Have you felt endangered in the areas you work in? My colleague's experience involved living in a dorm-like setting on a base. He said you give up a lot of comforts and normalcy for the bumped up pay.

Why are you so unhappy? Surely with that much many (really, anything over a few million) would allow you to remove any problems. Money doesn't buy happiness, sure, but money can remove stresses from your life; bad neighbors (move), mortgage payment (pay it off), health issues (get the best care available).

How old are you? I'm guessing 30s or 40s by how you type. Still young enough to get yourself in shape and whatnot.

Who the hell am I kidding, I don't believe you. Post a bank statement or something, block out all personal info.

You get what's called uplift. If you're in areas that are still considered warzones mainly Afghanistan and Iraq it's 35% for living and 35% danger uplifts (Or should unless your company is jewing you) You'll work lots of hours. at least 56 and as much as 72 minimum.

I've never personally felt endangered, but I've served over here before in the military. I've been here so long it's home. You do have the occasional hit the deck moments when a mortar is shot your way. People die here, don't kid yourself, but if you're working IT you probably have a better chance of being ran over in D.C than getting killed here.

As far as how hard? It really depends on the company. Some companies will sponsor your secret clearance if you don't already have one, some won't. You also need Sec+ and CE cert something like Windows 7 or Sever 2012. 2 years experience should be enough to get your foot in the door though.

CCNA R&S, A+, Net+, Sec+
>>
>>1464263
I am just getting myself started in IT, right now looking to get A+ then Net+. A lot of people have been suggesting I go towards Linux, like going for LPIC. Do you think this is where the industry is heading? I am kind of worried about getting myself stuck in a corner if I choose a vendor-specific cert like with Cisco or MS.
>>
>>1464270
IT is constantly changing. Getting a CCNA or MSCA is not really pigeonholing yourself this early in your career. Those certs are checkboxes for lots of jobs unless you already know what you want to do.

Learn to write scripts in Powershell or Python. Linux is a great skill to have and learning to administer Linux will be in need. Automation, Virtualization, Cloud, Storage, Networking, Security are all good fields and will continue to be lucrative though the fields will change, especially with Networking.

My suggestion get your first helpdesk job. You need to get in the door asap. If that means you get an A+ then you do it. Then from there start picking a specialization that interests you.

Do you know what you want to do?
>>
>>1464288
From what I've learned so far, the stuff I find most interesting is with virtualization and cloud technologies. It seems to me like everything is moving in that direction. Even when I started dabbling in web dev, I would see a lot of lectures focused on applications moving to the cloud and the need to redesign sites. Right now the guy I'm working with is getting rid of his clients' physical, on-site servers and migrating everything to the cloud (I believe using OwnCloud). I've set up a few machines on VirtualBox and have been messing around with that, definitely want to dig deeper into it. Networking also seems very interesting.

I recently found a guy who has a small IT consulting business and he's mentoring me, getting to do some work 1-2 days a week. The rest of the time I study and read. I am trying to stay away from helpdesk if I can. I think doing this consulting work will look pretty good on a resume and give me some experience. Like I have a friend working for an MSP, he recommended that because it gave him experience working with all different environments. With this job, we have about a dozen clients so I think that's pretty good for exposure. Did you start off on a helpdesk?

I have about 250 bucks in my bank account. No assets. I turned in my 2 week notice at my Custodial job last friday, I'll be going to California for a week then I'm hitting local jobs hard. Wanting to pick up either a full time, or 2 part times while I think about going back to school.

Ideally a full time and a part time..

I want to start making at least 100 bucks a day after taxes or more. I don't have any friends and just play Xbox all day, so I might as well take a few retard mode jobs and make some money.

Right now I make only 350-400 every two weeks which isn't sustainable, and I have to drive about 30 miles to get there.

I want to get to a point to where I can have a secluded house on a lake with a fishing boat that I can raise a family in. I would make the money for the land and house while working my ass off, and hopefully picking up some passive income along the way that can sustain me when I plan to retire at about 50. (Probably naive)

Fortunate to graduate college with no debt thanks to the rents. Look forward to start making some real cash once I get into a career

Forgot to mention:

>No Highschool or GET
>No drivers license

But also
>No debt
>No criminal or bad work history
>Held my job for almost 2 years, so not a flake
>And I live rent free with my folks.

I'm turning 23 this month, and once I start making some money and pick up a few college classes I'm going to move out.

I'm getting a late start to my life because I've been in pause since I lost my friends in highschool. It's stressful when I'm still a neet and I see all of my classmates finishing up their majors already, but at the same time I'm young, single, and have the intelligence to know what I need to do. I just need the willpower to do it.
