25 I just got laid off after two years working during school.
According to EDD I'm about to get $500 for the next two years. Should I immediately look for work (currently spending a month off before applying since they laid me off right before my PTO) or take even more time to do whatever (travel, additional education, etc). If the former, what would be the maximum amount of time.
I dont pay any bills other than a phone bill and half of utilities with my mom.
If I were in an uncertain financial situation like you the very first thing I'd do is look for work. Save up a rainy day fund in case something like this happens again.
Good planning anon, you'll be okay.

Look for work, avoid significant unexplained gaps in your resume. You have work experience and are out of school, so it won't be hard to get re-hired.. You were also laid off, not fired, so see if you can get letters of recommendations or references. If you were let go on good terms they should have no problem helping you out.

That or look into advancing your education. I took a break after my associates and a bachelor's guarantees me a pay raise with significant room for advancement, yet I still have yet to go through with getting it.
Why were you fired?
