Starting to get into investing and I have a question.
Example:
I purchase 100 shares of ABC on 01/01/2016.
I purchase 100 more shares of ABC on 02/01/2016.
If I sell all my 200 shares of ABC on 01/02/2016, will the first block of 100 shares be taxed at the > 1 year rate, and the second block 0f 100 be taxed at the < 1 year rate?
Or are you taxed on all your holdings the same from the first date of your purchase order when it comes to short/long term capital gains tax? In this case, all 200 shares of ABC would be taxed at the > 1 year rate?
Much appreciated.
The first thing you said
>his country has a capital gains tax
Lmao

>tfw Obama thinks we need higher capital gains taxes
Eh I have no plans to unload any assets in the near future anyway, but I guess I have a pretty big reason not to. Dividends are overtaxed though, for sure. The company already fucking paid taxes on its income.

Sounds like a plan, assuming a spike on New Year's Day, then a gradual decline until February.
