Does bad time for long term even exist?
What would be a fine long-term investment?
S&P 500 looks kinda high (pic related), developed EU countries have negative bond yield, real estate is different in every country...
Oil? Can oil be considered long term low volatility at all? Gold? Dropped a bit but still high, maybe that is the new norm? Some tailored indexes by reputable investing firms?

if your longterm is 10+ years, nah this isn't a bad time for it. S&P is very high, but that's what people said in 2000 and if they held until now, they'd have made ~300% in 16 years.

I'm waiting until after the election. I think no matter who gets elected, the market will dip in the first quarter.

The last time to go long was after the brexit vote. I would hold off. Pay off debt or build up credit/ emergency fund.

idk. i feel like the general sentiment is that volatility is going to spike over the next few months. there's just too many risk factors out there and the fed's utility belt is empty.
