Alright lads,
I decided to test a portion of my portfolio out on some marijuana stocks. As we all know, Canadian Marijuana laws are coming into effect in about a week, and when that happens, green stocks are going to have a field day. I've already had some mild success with THC, SL, and GCI, and I'm curious to see which leafy green companies /biz/ is invested in.
I also figured I'd let /biz/ know in case anyone here was interested in making some quick money (in a responsible and non-meme way). I picked these smaller marijuana companies as opposed to OGI, APH, MT, and CGC because the return will ultimately be larger in an event that guarantees all marijuana stocks benefit. In addition, each of these companies has lab constructions or license approval coming up within the next couple of months. This will drastically increase value for shareholders. Below, I've posted my profits from today.
is it really next week? I've been thinking of opening a direct investing account at my bank to invest in pot but I've been putting it off for a while.
I haven't really read too much about it either, but I know CGC is the industry leader and is pretty much guaranteed to take off

Yeah, there was talk that it was postponed to November because the libs wanted more time to plan things out, but the latest news says an announcement's still on for the 24th.
CGC is definitely the industry leader and will take off. There's no question about it. If you bought it early enough, you're in an excellent position. People hopping onto it now may only double or triple their money in the next year, not quadruple or quintuple.
If you want a safe MJ company though, any of MT, OGI, APH, and CGC are good bets. I particularly like Aphria (APH).

How do you figure medical weed patients being allowed to grow their own dope will have a positive impact on companies whose business it is to sell it to them?

Only have 450 shares of CGC :(

Fuck off
Kill yourself

These companies have resources dedicated to mass production of clean and respectable sources of marijuana. It's legal to drink tap water but people still buy bottled water. In addition, there are companies that sell tools and start up kits for marijuana growing, so there's a profit to be made with them for the skeptical such as yourself. However, energy costs for independent growers are ridiculous. It's cheaper to buy from companies than to do all the work yourself, and if people are genuinely using marijuana to help with ailments, even better. Do you seriously think they're going to want to go through all the trouble themselves?

That's still alright, m8. Baby steps.
Newbie here. How do I buy GCQ stock if I live in the US?

Talk to your broker about it. You'll usually need to purchase the foreign currency (in this case CAD), before you can buy the stock. If you use an online broker, you're beat off asking them directly by email or live chat how to trade foreign stocks.

GCI is not marijuana

nvm I was looking at American Gannet
Great, APH took a shit today.
Are you guys speculating (aiming to sell in a couple of weeks ort months) or investing (long term)?

I'm looking for an exit point in the next couple weeks. I've made money from buying and selling these stocks, but as of late I am down the highest point of my portfolio. I plan to regain this lost ground in the next month or so, and wait until December to re-invest before the run up in the spring.

I literally cannot find any of these stocks. Are they microcaps?

The biggest company is on the TSX (main canadian trading board). All the rest are on the canadian venture exchange. Some are valued in the hundreds of millions for market cap.
APH is expanding fellows
