I hate them too. They tend to have Dunning–Kruger syndrome out the wazoo. I had the unfortunate experience of being friends with a person who was like this. He was paranoid about me stealing his ideas and think that he's full of wisdom. He did poorly in school to the point of being almost as dumb as the kids in special ed. But that wasn't enough to make him being self-aware of his limitations and ignorance.
