You know how there are 24 hours gyms right? And that as a member of said gym you get a key card or 24 hour access (obviously).

Well, my idea is this. Its like a 24 hour gym, except its basically a 24 hour video game arcade/entertainment place that is full of w/e arcade games people play (like those racing simulators), table top games and entertainment.

They can be placed in suburbs, so people can have 24 hours of glorious fun without needing to pay a cent aside from their fortnightly membership fee.

What could possibly go wrong, /biz/?

Arcades have been dead in the US since the late 1990s. Initial startup costs are astronomical. The market is nostalgic millennials. Without a liquor license you won't make any money at all. Maintenance costs for gaming machines are horrible. Sanitation practices for gaming consoles will be awful. Some people abuse controllers. You will have members who literally will not leave the area. Why would I pay 40 dollars a month to use someone else's semen-encrusted gaming gear when I can pay 200 dollars for a permanent console and my own games that will last longer and that I won't have to wait for other people to finish with?
>>
>>1435773
What about a 24/7 access water park?
>>
>>1435763

I wouldn't say suburbs, more like urban ghetto area. Little niglets eat that shit up and parents will think its like the Boys and Girls club for them.
>>
>>1435774
Literally an ocean of piss.
>>
>>1435773
I happen to prefer semen encrusted videogame controllers
>>
>>1435763
I'm not saying it's a terrible idea, even though it probably is. Only the market can say that.

First step in any idea is to get enough people to preorder your product or service to break even, before you spend a dime of your own money. Get a few dozen people to preorder their 24hr video game passes (that you will refund them if you don't open), and you know you have something.

Remember ideas are less than shit, which is why the guy who could presell commercial cleaning service is a millionaire, and the day dreamer who developed a virtual reality 'fuck Taylor Swift for $.15' program, but is too scared to pick up the phone, lives with mom and dad.
>>
Vidya is a shit business. I have seen similar ideas fail. Hardcore gamers are fucking terrible humans.

This. You don't have to risk a penny in shitty startup ideas anymore. Make a good video to sell the idea and go to Kickstarter. Retards will give you money for some reason and you DON'T have to refund them if you never open. It's socialist venture capital it's great
>>
>>1435763
listen, they have something similar in asian countries where its just a bunch of computers set up and people can come and play their starcraft. research these companies, find out how they work and why they are popular and determine if it is something that can be brought over to the USA (assuming youre in the US)
>>
Does the US not have 24 hour internet cafes?
>>
>>1435883
I have never seen one. We have free wifi at practically every place of business
>>
>>1435883
Yeah, they're around. they usually have Steam installed with a shittone of games.

When I said games I meant these type of games.

My other idea is an app that connects someone who want to challenge another person in a game, sport or vidya for money. For example, if I want to 1v1 someone in basketball for money - e.g. $50 - (or even for a non-money item I guess), someone else who's up to the challenge can meet me at a specified place and time. T&Cs of the game are for the most part up to the person who organised it and whoever accepts is on record agreeing to them.

Sports could probably be a bit risky since money and ego is involved but I assume a lot of people who are big into sports and part of their respective subcultures would use this service, and become very competitive.

The same concept applies for vidya.

Essentially, the app makes me the middleman. I take a cut of whatever is wagered.

Find one flaw.

Just get a PC and play Iracing
>>
24 Hour indor pool would be sweet where I live

You could do it with multiple roatating pools
>>
>>1436058
>Find one flaw

No. Go out and sell it, daydreamer.
>>
>>1435763
You don't understand that people who play games don't usually go outside to hang out and socialize. So, of course not unless you happen to be quite popular with them somehow.
>>
>>1436058

I got one. How do you legitimately declare who is the victor? Whoever loses could easily back out and or argue they didn't lose. The app itself would have to have a way to prove the winner. People are sore losers.
>>
>>1435763
I seriously hope this is bait
>>
>>1435763
>Video arcade
>2016
>>
>>1435869
I can't see that in the US. Americans don't respect things that don't belong to them. Your equipment would all be damaged beyond repair within a month
>>
>>1435763
might work except people already have access to all those games at home for less than your membership probably costs.

so the only real advantages are socializing or as a place for the homeless to sleep.
>>
>>1435837
This. They give money to women playing games. There is no logic in this market.

... Actually shit. What else can women do online that isn't socially taboo but guys will pay out the ass to see?
>>
>>1435773
This. Unless you plan on making it a bar it's a stupid idea. There's an arcade bar in LA called EightyTwo that's always packed.
>>
>>1436058
Uh... unless you're fucking good at X why would you ever make a post asking for challengers?

Unless you're fucking good at X why would you ever accept a challenge?

Thus your marketsize is like 5 dudes.
>>
>>1437279

>Basketball is all about ego. Everyone thinks they're better than everyone else.
>Video games - its hard to tell. With a way to make money a lot of nerds and their friends will play even more to build up their skills to challenge other people and their teams for money.
>It gives people an incentive to play more.
>New app allowing people to connect and challenge others in team or individual sports or games will make people go out and organise it.

Also, just think of how many black dudes play ball in their hoods. If they can make money balling instead of selling drugs they will play even more.
>>
>>1437279
People love to compete and kick each others' asses whether they're any good or not.

Just add a skill level balancing system so the Olympian isn't matched against some guy with 10 games under his belt, and it could be a hit.
>>
OP this is an internet cafe to the extreme, I like your idea but you need hired guards to keep the dudes jerking off and shooting heroin out of your cafe
>>
>kids/ungreatful bullish customers will absolutely wreck your shit. prepare for setting aside a sizable margin just for repairs/replacements

>why would I want to pay to play at this place when I can do so at my own home in peace and quiet and buck naked if I wanted to.

when they finally answer this question, they figure that its not their stuff so they don't have to worry about breaking a controller

>most arcade cabinets are rented out
>>
>>1437381
yeah cool, you have a market of 5 dudes
