Hello I have my first job with a 401k retirement plan with the opportunity to start investing at the end of the month. However I read a lot of Zerohedge and listen to Peter Schiff, I have huge doom and gloom bias. Is it a good idea to start passively investing? with markets at record highs along with PE ratios being very high?

If so get your match. In the short term, your match will crush investment earnings.
Of its a shitty plan (high expense ratios) you might want to limit yourself to just the employer match max, but check it out yourself.
Alot of the "Yur 401k is ripping you off buy etfs instead" talk out there is cherry picked, so check the plan out for yourself.
Did you say you are working for a 401k company? They should have a good plan. Maybe I misunderstood.
