Any Canada fags here? Any with experience as an accountant in Canada. I'm looking to make a lot of money and I'm not sure what my major should be between finance, economics and accounting. I am a strong math and English student and finished with a 95% average in my 2 Accounting classes. The only thing is I would not want to be an accountant forever, I would much rather use it as a tool to progress into management and put my people skills to good use. How realistic is it that I would be able to advance beyond just being an accountant? Would I be stuck as an accountant forever? Any advice on a career in business + accounting is welcome and also university degrees in Canada that are worthwhile.

Absolutely not.
Accounting is the backbone of any business, and many people in Finance jobs have a background in Accounting. You will look extremely attractive to any employer in the finance field with a background in accounting, even majoring in Finance or Economics and taking a few accounting courses is great

A lot of people get their CPA/CA (which ever designation it is now) and their CFA and transition from accounting to finance, being highly sought after because of their breadth of financial knowledge.
