I've been reading up on it, and it seems that every piece written on the subject comes down to one conclusion: having an already established blog/website as a base for your affiliate marketing
Now I figure there's a couple ways of doing this: the obvious being writing actual, meaningful content and gaining an audience that wants to spend but this could take up to a couple years/months, and the faster way of paying google for exposure and writing detailed reviews on the products you're pushing
have I overlooked something? do all affiliate marketers start out like this?
to be frank, I'm not looking to make any mad dosh from it, just an eventual couple hundred/month would be alright to cover the rent, and since I live in buttfuck nowhere, yurop that's more than enough for me

> If you buy a website, does it have an adsense ban?

Holyshit I never thought about that, now it makes sense why all these Pajeets sell their good looking sites on Flippa for cheap.

I'm doing the same thing as you, had this thread open since OP posted for the luls but now I'll actually going to help a little.

>do I have to write good content to get an audience
Well of course dumass, this also means you can't copy someone else site by copy/pasting or rewording the sentences a little. Google isn't stupid & will ban you, don't expect a reason cause they don't even have a call center to deal with your bs.

>do all affiliate marketers start out like this?
Maybe idk, I'm in the same boat as you except I know my niche & love talking about it.

Don't expect to go far by making up stories thinking people will visit your site if you don't think you'll have to put in a lot of work.

Also don't even think about using iFrame, faggot

thanks for the replies, you and the other guy who deleted his post for some reason
it's pretty complicated finding a niche when I have no real interests, but your posts reinforce my previous opinions

i've been reading about this too for a long time. i have found my niche. even though i am a white male my niche is targeted at women as it is a topic that appears in womens media more.
i will launch a website in the fall when school is back and write articles, hopefully commision some articles later on. was planning on adding some ads, linking to products to get affiliate commision and in the future mentioning products that will be supplied to amazon by my white label brands.

while i'm doing this to make money, i have no expectations for the first while, maybe 6 months, as i have no realistic way to gauge numbers & income. some guides online are helpful, some less so, so i think learning from my mistakes will be the best way.
the website tech side i can do myself with some serious googling.

former affiliate marketer reporting in.

I've been dishing out my personal knowledge on /biz/ for 2-3 weeks now. 10 years of general online marketing experience. I dealt with affiliate sales for the first 2 years or so

The nature of the internet makes affiliate marketing methods ever changing. What worked when I was doing it isn't what works now. I was into affiliate marketing right as "web 2.0" and social media really started to become the mainstream of the internet.

The best way to be successful in -all- of your online marketing methods, always is and always will be to grow naturally and become an authority figure in whatever niche you target. This means actually becoming the guru of whatever it is you're talking about, the king of answers. If you do this the only other part is to actually advertise yourself right ie proper keyword research and usage so the audience can and will find you, a clean professional and intuitive look for whatever soapbox youre on so you look like an authority worth paying attention to, and good strong content that displays who you are and what you know well to prove "im the king".

Doing this damn near assures that you WILL see success and money come in from your efforts. The problem is online marketers, especially newbies, are trying to get a fast buck with stick-and-run methods. This is why most of them make pennies then fizzle out. Some become good with these methods and can make a decent pocket of cash, but they always fizzle out, and thus you always see them attacking multiple niches at once and are always clamoring for another gimmic, another niche, another penny. Often times this makes them spread too thin and again, they fizzle out.

to be specific to your questions OP:

No you don't always have to have an already established blog/website to start with. It can help depending on what the history of that soapbox is, but is absolutely not a must. And as others stated if said website has bad history it can actually hinder you.

How do i get started with affiliate marketing? I have found my niche but it might be difficult to get renown online. Any books that can help?

Same here even I'm interested.
I went to affiliate marketing subreddit but their recommended reading section just forwards to expensive forums.
