Hey /biz/, i really like working manual labor and being out in nature but im really shitty with people and have a social disorder. I have the opportunity to work some land and eventually use cuts of the profits i make to buy out the land from the owner.

What are the most profitable things to farm? No drugs (weed, opium, magic mushrooms, etc). I've been told "artisan" types of stuff like furs and honey and whatnot are probably a better bet than normal food farming.

depends on what part of the country you are in,

because weather patterns will have to determine what you plant.

temecula in california (valley area)
The land has already got olive trees on it but the olive oil market in this area is already saturated

google/talk to some local markets you would like to sell too and find out what is in demand.
you have an advantage as a small farmer to b be able to grow niche/more difficult smaller batch items.

Honey is pretty big considering the bee shortage meme. Figured i'd throw a bunch of wild flower seeds around and purchase a hive or two from some of those bee removal companies.

Mushrooms are also apparently a cottage industry, but the desert climate really isnt suitable for them enclosed or not so climate control might be a bitch

so , basically this thread was pointless?

No, i wanted more ideas and input from folks.

Have you thought about mowing instead of growing?

Seriously cheap startup, and practically zero overheard. $10k will get you a riding mower, trimmer, dethatcher, aerator, a trailer to put your shit on and if you need one a shitty truck. Only downside is manual labor, but you said you like that. but grab an employee for $12/hour cash and you can bang out $600 worth of lawns in a 6 hour day as long as you can hand out business cards and get customers.

Oh shit, only read the first half of your post.

I'm a faggot, carry on.

Interesting, i could probably grab an illegal immigrant to do it for half a mayonnaise jar too
