Got atvi long term for at least the q2 earnings. Problem is that they just hit a 52 week high so the stock is starting to correct before earnings hit. Before earnings report, PTX typically gets pumped, then dumped upon report release. Past few have been gnarly. Do not hold past tomorrow unless you have balls of steel and trust it wont plummet. Matter of fact, I bet it'll be a downward trend tomorrow. I love PTX, and I made some money today, but I don't trust it to hold over earnings report.

Make a list of volatile but cheap stocks.

When the MACD shows a buy, then you buy. However, don't buy all at once. Because they are so cheap, you can buy several at a time and make sure you get the lowest price.

When the S&P goes up, sell them because they will probably go up too. Then buy an inverse S&P stock like DRIP or SDS and ride it back down. However, watch an oil stock like SM because DRIP isn't directly inverse to the S&P, but specifically how oil is doing.

Check the 5 day charts. They usually show patterns of when the stock rebounds or when it hits a ceiling.

alternatively, you can find stocks that have a good MACD, low RSI, and are below the moving average and try to buy those and ride it up.

Volatile is pretty good. I think it's safer just buying today and selling tomorrow. I'm having better luck with it than waiting for openings in 3-6 month MACDs.

Just use the yahoo 5 day macd charts and it'll show you when it's bottoming out.

I've also noticed that usually when it spikes in the morning, you need to sell, or when it drops hard in the morning, you should pick a fair number of shares, but still buy throughout the day. Typically right after opening is the most volatile time.
