How much money should I have saved up coming out of college? I have a job as a high school math teacher lined up (yes I know) that will pay 41 k
$4.8 million. No more, no less.

As much as possible.
Also, good luck with being a math teacher, lmao.
Luckily, I had a thriving family business coming out of college, but If I were in your position, I would start a business on the side and put in no more than 40 hours a week (during school year) into the math teacher thing.
Maybe you can spend passing periods & worksheet time listening to business podcasts.
Idk OP. I'm going into my senior year and have about $5000 saved up. I know this is more than what most students have, but I feel I could do better.

well considering most students finish school in deep debt i would say anything saved is good. unless youre also in debt
try to break even and enjoy yourself. you will have the rest of your life to make money.

This.
Dont become a high school math teacher, senpai. You'll be miserable for 20 years, get a measly pension, and then spend your weekend emailing your divorced wife and 3 kids, who are tired about hearing your conversion to Christ.

If you have a 'thriving family business' you get to walk right into and brag about it on /biz/ then why the fuck did you go to /college/ and pay all that money when you could have begun working already?

I walked out with about -40 grand to my name and 2k in a savings account which went to first month's rent and security deposit. Then I bought a car for 16k so I could actually get to work putting me at about -58k altogether.
A year later I'm now at -38k.
Haha just fuck my shit up.

why do you buy a fucking 16k car? my first and second cars were 500EUR each
and they drove just as fine as yours
