Eth devs and miners (all DAO investors) decided for the community there was going to be a hard fork to bail them out. A week later, the part of the community that decided there wouldn't be a hard fork is being validated by having the original Eth chain put on major exchanges. The wretched Eth-fork community is now losing their shit and making plans to hack the exchanges and do 51% attacks on the chain as revenge as they cry about the market crashing from uncertainty.

As someone who doesn't have 1 dollar invested in Eth it's incredibly entertaining

Ethereum Classic just wants to uphold the original principle of immutability and not bailing out apps at the protocol level.
